The HCG Diet
You may have heard about it, but do you know what it is, and does it work? Well the answer is a definite yes!
Let’s start off by finding out what HCG is?
HCG or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin as it’s sometimes called is a glycoprotein hormone pregnant woman produce in the earlier stages of their pregnancy. Extensive research has shown that a very small HCG daily injection can result in a weight loss of 1 -2 pounds per day. If you combine it with a low calorie diet, losses of 2-3 pounds per day can often been seen. Another added benefit apart from the weight loss, is that it helps to restart you metabolism giving you more energy.
How the HCG Diet Works.
Since the 1950’s when it was first discovered by the well respected Dr. ATW Simeons, small doses of HCG has been given to overweight men and women to help decrease their appetite and help them lose weight, with excellent results being seen under the chin, around their stomach, hips, thighs, and buttocks. Without a prescription it is not easy to buy hcg, however read on and we will explain an excellent source for all your hcg needs
HCG Treatment Regimes.
The treatment is divided into monthly periods each lasting a minimum of 26 days, with 23 of those days needing a daily injection of HCG. Treatment may last as long as 43 days (with 40 injections), unless a patient loses 30 to 40 pounds (13 to 18kg) before the treatment period has finished. People using this diet won’t receive HCG injections for the final three days of any treatment period so that it can be expelled from their bodies before they resume a normal diet. (It usually takes about 2-3 days for HCG's effects to start.)
Why should you stop after 40 days? Dr Simeons noted that subjects studied developed immunity to HCG after 40 days and are required to take a six-week break from the diet to fully desensitize to it. Dr Simeons also recommended that no more than four total treatments, separated by breaks should be used.
In addition to receiving injections, people using this method are encouraged to cut their daily intake to a very low 500 calories a day, but not until after the third shot. Once the HCG is active in the dieter's body, its release of long-stored fat provides the body with the required calories it needs to burn to get through a day (a day, it should be noted, without much exercise). As long as fat deposits are being released for use, the 500 daily calories being ingested is supposed to be enough to support the dieter without the usual hunger pains you would normally have on a 500-calorie diet. Once a dieter drops the excess weight, the treatment must stop, because HCG only affects stored fat. Once that's used up, the body will begin to reject a self-imposed limit of 500 daily calories.
The foods that should be eaten in conjunction with this diet should be high in protein and low in starches, carbohydrates and high-fat foods. Drinking alcohol is a big No No!
