Fiber optic communication

Everybody knows that the structured cabling system was the foundation of all business networks, offering connectivity between computers, servers, and other network devices. It allows both voice & data to be sent worldwide. While it comes for data cabling, there were different mediums available for carrying data, transmitting it from the point A - point B. the twisted pair copper cables have been presently used as common form of structural data cabling, transmitting the data through copper wires. As the technology continues in advance, the most advanced technique of networking developments is fiber optic cabling. It is on its way for becoming as the next generation standard in data cabling.

Advantages of the fiber optic cabling include:

           Longest distances

Signals carried along the fiber optic cable may go up to fifty times longer than using copper wires because of low attenuation (loss of signal) rates, without requiring the signal repeater to manage integrity of signal over longer distances as the copper wire cable does.

           Intrusion avoidance

When compared to copper wire cable system, it is possible to detect signals that are broadcasted over cable. This isn't a matter with fiber optic cables dielectric nature that makes remote detection impossible. And also gaining access to fiber itself might require physical intervention that could be thwarted by well placed surveillance systems.

           Installation improvements

Longest length, small diameter, as well as light weight fiber optic cables make installation as well as upgrades easier. It is less expensive than cables made of copper.

           Multi-Mode fibers

Multi-mode fibers has larger core diameter, where light may be broadcasted in multiple ways to reach its destinations. The fiber optic provides multi-mode fiber, higher transmission capacity. But it retains reliability over shorter distances.

           Single Mode fibers

This has smallest core diameter than multi-mode, letting one path of light that has to broadcast through. This fiber optic wires is used for longer distance transmission, exceeding multi-mode limits, and isn't limited by the modal dispersions.

           Inside plant

This fiber cabling systems were designed for use at the building where they commonly have no contact along environmental variables. The typical fiber optic cable inside the plant cable system have been positioned around dielectric strength member cores, and surrounded by subunit jacket. Kevlar surrounds individual subunits within cable, thus reinforcing tensile strengths.

           Outside plant

While installing the fiber optic cable either underground or outside, outside cabling systems has been used. This fiber cabling systems were composed of separate gel-filled subunit buffer tubes that are placed over central core strength members. Within every subunit buffer tubes, buffer coated fibers were placed around strength member.

The bandwidth limitation has been eliminated by the fiber optics broadband, so that you may watch live sporting events, on-demand movies and even TV shows online. Anyhow, both the providers were looking into the technology, which will look downloading speed raise even in future, giving all thanks to the fiber opticsal technology.
